About this site

This site is mostly dedicated to elucidating on the subject of gnosis (literally: true knowledge, or dnyana -Vedanta, or irfan -Sufi), as imparted by Meher Baba. Traditionally such issues are considered "esoteric". Meher Baba, however, has worked to open the most essential part of this knowledge to the whole world. So, although a limited number of people are inclined to follow the path of knowledge as part of their spiritual journey, the issues of this site can be considered as "exoteric", in the sense that they are openly available, intellectually at least, to everyone. Gnosis, however, is beyond the reach of the intellect and is available only by direct experience of the various stages of the spiritual Path and ultimately of the Self.

This site also serves as a portal to many excellent and more conventional Meher Baba websites, resources and blogs on the subject of Baba's life, character, and teachings, as well as issues which concern his followers and lovers. There are also links to articles by various contributors on Baba's teachings, words, and cosmology, organized by subject matter.

Baba's writings and statements

Meher Baba did extensive work to present his gnosis in written form. During the years 1925 and 1926, he spent long periods in seclusion writing his original Book by hand that has come to be known as "the missing book."

From 1938-43 Baba gave points by use of an alphabet board to be worked up into Discourses by Dr. C.D. Deshmukh that has had numerous printings and revisions. Later, in 1953-54 he dictated his major book God Speaks, also by alphabet board, which as he said (in 1967) contains 90% of his original "Book". God Speaks reveals Meher Baba's ultimate experience of the imaginary journey of the soul through creation, starting from its original unconscious state, all the way to its final awakening in Self-consciousness. In 1967-68 Meher Baba also dictated "sets of points" to his disciple Bhau Kalchuri and instructed him to integrate them into a book to be named The Nothing And The Everything and made it clear that these points contained the remaining 10% of his original Book.

In recent years some manuscripts were discovered that are believed to be either a copy of part of the original Book, or elucidations given to some of his close followers, and have been published under the name Infinite Intelligence (2005). In addition, over the years Baba gave numerous messages and brief discourses published in various shorter works including The Everything and the Nothing, Meher Baba on the Spiritual Panorama, and Life At Its Best. Numerous other messages, letters, circulars, and conversations given by Meher Baba have also been published in the exhaustive 20 volume biography Lord Meher, The Biography of the Avatar of the Age by Bhau Kalchuri.
